The loss of Luke Shaw was a major blow to Manchester United‘s title hopes for the 2015-16 campaign. While Marcos Rojo has settled in as Shaw’s replacement, the team is still missing a top-notch player to fill the massive void at left back. However, Man United’s latest target, Walsall left-back Rico Henry, could be the man to fix that problem.
According to the Metro, Man United have been scouting the 18-year-old Henry and had scouts present during his performance against Swindon Town this past week. The Metro noted that Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City have all expressed interest in the teenage defender. Comparisons have been made between Henry and Chelsea legend Ashley Cole.
Walsall manager Dean Smith acknowledged that his star back is garnering interest from the Premier League giants, but said it would take a lot of money to pry him from his side.
‘It’s going to take a hell of a lot of money to take Rico away from this football club but every player has a price don’t they?
‘We all know that. But it would take a very big offer and I’m not sure he’d want to go, at the moment, as well…”
Henry received his first caps for the England Under-19 side this past month against Japan and the Netherlands.
