Man United willing to bring world-class midfielder back to Old Trafford in £61.6m move

A golden opportunity for Man United to land one of the world’s best midfielders may have just opened up as Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is set to be placed on the open market. The 23-year-old star is familiar with Old Trafford having played their in his youth, but Man United may have to pay a pretty penny to bring him back.

According to the Metro via One World Sports, Juventus are willing to part with the French superstar for a bid upwards of £61.6 million (€80m). Per the source, Juventus have been encouraging Pogba’s agent to find a club that wants to bring him into the fold – and Man United are at the top of the list.

Pogba joined the Man United academy under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2009, making his senior debut for the Red Devils in 2011. However, he was not receiving the reps he wanted, so he departed in 2012 to join Juventus under then-manager Antonio Conte. The Italian manager quickly molded Pogba into a superstar, and won two more Serie A titles before Conte handed the club reins over to Massimiliano Allegri.

In the 2015-16 Serie A season, Pogba tied a career-high with eight goals and led the league with 12 assists.
