It certainly has been a season worth forgetting for Man United fans. The Red Devils have been eliminated from the Champions League, Premier League and even the Europa League all while struggling to get the ball in the net. Unfortunately, Man United are scoring so little that they are on pace for a historic lack of goals.
Manchester United have scored a grand total of 40 Premier League goals this season – 18 fewer than in the 2004-05 season when they finished with 58 – and could finish the season with club’s worst goal tally of the Premier League era.
At their current rate of scoring, Man United will finish with just over 46 goals – the fewest by any Man United team since the 1988-89 season, when they scored just 45 goals and finished 11th in Division 1.
Unless either Wayne Rooney or Anthony Martial pick up a handful of goals of the final five weeks, it will also be the first time in many years that the club doesn’t have a player with 10 or more league goals.
