Lazio defensive midfielder Lucas Biglia has long been viewed as a top player in Serie A and he has been a stud on the Argentina national team as well. With veteran Michael Carrick poised to leave this summer – or at the very least get demoted upon re-signing – Manchester United have jumped out front in the transfer race to land him.
According to Corriere dello Sport [per the Express], Man United are currently the frontrunners for the £20 million-rated Biglia amidst a solid season for Lazio. This year Biglia has made 31 appearances and scored five goals in all competitions for the Serie A giants.
Per the source, fellow Serie A powerhouses Juventus and Inter Milan have also expressed interest in the 30-year-old Argentine.
Biglia joined Lazio in a £6.6 million move from Anderlecht in 2013, quickly earning the admiration of the fans and the captain’s armband. He has been capped 37 times for Argentina since 2011.
