Wayne Rooney expected back with Man United bench for FA Cup

The Red Devils will have a significant addition to their FA Cup squad when they take on West Ham United in the this Wednesday as Wayne Rooney is expected back in the Manchester United lineup for the first time since a February knee injury forced him out of action.

According to the Telegraph, Rooney is expected to be placed on the bench for the team’s quarter-final replay at Upton Park. With Man United mathematically eliminated from the Premier League title, the FA Cup title remains the Red Devils’ lone hope of finishing the season with any silverware.

Rooney was forced out of action for two months after injuring his knee against Sunderland back in February. His absence gave an opportunity for wonderkid Marcus Rashford to make a name for himself and for Anthony Martial to continue to grow.

The Man United captain played 60 minutes for the Man United Under-21s on Monday and demonstrated sufficient fitness to return to the first-team.
