Man United look to hijack bid for one of Antonio Conte’s favourite targets

After Man United’s rather dismal defensive effort in a heart-breaking 10 minute stretch against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, the Red Devils’ brass will likely be looking to bring in some more players to start in the backfield. One of those options is AS Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas, a star for Greece, who is already attracting attention from various top clubs and could cause a bidding war with one of the Red Devils’ rivals.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Man United have been meeting with the agent for Manolas over the last few days ahead of a summer bid. Per the Metro, Chelsea have been in talks with Roma to try and sign him and incoming manager Antonio Conte is believed to be quite fond of the Greece centre-back.

The 24-year-old centre-back has started 37 of 38 appearances for Roma and was featured heavily in their Champions League bid this past season.
