Tottenham look to hijack talented Arsenal target to aid future title hopes

While Tottenham Hotspur currently have one of the most talented midfield groups in English football, the team will likely need even more young stars at the position if they hope to compete in the Champions League next season. To that end, the Spurs are looking to make an offer for Southampton defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are renewing their bid for Victor Wanyama this summer after having a previous bid for the 24-year-old star rejected. Per the source, Arsenal have also expressed interest in the Kenyan midfielder.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino scouted and signed Wanyama back in 2013 when he served as Southampton manager, though he left the defensive midfielder behind when he accepted the move to White Hart Lane after just 18 months.

The Spurs reportedly bid £18 million for Wanyama last summer, but Southampton manager Ronald Koeman remains adamant about keeping his star midfielder and turned down the offer.
