Considering the remarkable speed with which Barcleona forward Neymar went from teenage sensation to global superstar, it’s no wonder that teams will quickly pounce on anyone cut from the same cloth as the Brazil captain. Naturally, Manchester United are angling to be the first in line to land the latest Brazilian prospect who has earned comparisons to the near-incomparable Barcelona superstar – in this case, Palmeiras forward Gabriel Jesus.
According to Transfer Tavern via The Daily Star, Man United have submitted an offer to the Brazilian Serie A outfit for the 18-year-old wonderkid. Per the source Gabriel is believed to have a release clause of £23.5 million and is being pursued by La Liga giants Atletico Madrid as well. However, the snag will likely be the fact that Palmeiras do not own all of the contract rights to the teenage star.
In two seasons with Palmeiras, Gabriel has 15 goals in 52 games. In 2015 he helped Palmeiras win the Copa do Brasil and was named Serie A Best Newcomer.
On the international level, he has performed admirably for Brazil’s Under- squads, scoring five times in six games for the Under-20 team and three times in four games for the Under-23s.
