Central midfielder has been a position of significant weakness for both Liverpool and Manchester United over the past month-plus, but the two clubs have their eyes on reinforcements this January and could make a major splash to land Lazio ace Lucas Biglia.
According to the Metro, Biglia has been made available by the Serie A giants for just £25.7 million. The 29-year-old Argentinian has played below expectations this year, scoring twice and recording three assists in 12 Serie A matches. The source reported that both Liverpool and Man United have expressed interest in Biglia and might be willing to pay the price despite his age.
Biglia has played for Lazio since 2013, signing a big contract with the team after a solid career at Anderlecht. He scored the lone goal in Argentina’s 1-0 win over Colombia in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
Liverpool have suffered a litany of injuries to their midfield while Man United just have not found the right combination of players at the position during the last two months.
