Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has been linked with the move away from the club when the transfer window opens in January.

According to a report from the Sun, the Newcastle striker is a target for four Premier League clubs and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

He has struggled with an injury he picked up in preseason and the striker is yet to play for Newcastle this season. According to reports, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Southampton are keeping tabs on his situation and they are hoping to secure his services. Brentford are reportedly in pole position to sign the player, and they are looking at him as a replacement for Ivan Toney.

Fulham are looking to add more depth to their attacking unit as well. They need to add more goals to the side if they want to finish high up the table. Even though Wilson has struggled with persistent injury problems, he is a proven goalscorer in the English top flight and he could prove to be a quality acquisition.

He has been labelled as an ‘incredible’ player by Eddie Howe.

Given his situation at Newcastle, he is likely to be available for a reasonable price. The 32-year-old earns £46,000 a week at Newcastle and his wages will be affordable for his suitors.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. He is currently a backup option to Alexander Isak at Newcastle and he will want to play more often at this stage of his career. Sitting on the bench at Newcastle is unlikely to be an appealing option for him.

Wilson has scored 48 goals in 108 appearances for Newcastle since joining the club in 2020, and this is the right time for the Magpies to sanction his departure. He will be out of contract next summer and they will not want to lose him on a free transfer.
