Liverpool have injury concerns over Konstantinos Tsimikas after the full-back was spotted leaving the Anfield pitch on Wednesday evening with his right knee heavily strapped with ice.

The 28-year-old left-back was awarded just his second start of the season when Liverpool hosted West Ham in last night’s EFL Cup Third Round.

The Reds cruised to a 5-1 victory after Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota both bagged braces either side of a goal from Mo Salah.

Arne Slot’s men will now travel to Brighton for a Last Round of 16 tie on 29th October.

Concerns for Konstantinos Tsimikas following EFL Cup win

However, despite their progression through to another knockout phase, Liverpool’s celebrations were dampened slightly after Tsimikas, who was replaced with Andy Robertson after 81 minutes, was spotted walking down the tunnel with his knee strapped up.

Although he is far from a regular starter, the Greece international plays a hugely significant role within Liverpool’s squad.

Often called into action, the 28-year-old is one of the club’s most reliable stand-ins, and with fixture congestion mounting, and the Reds’ full-back options limited, Tsimikas’ suspected injury could give Slot a slight tactical headache.

Liverpool travel to Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday before welcoming Bologna to Merseyside in the Champions League next Wednesday, and Tsimikas is now a doubt for both.
