West Ham United might be starting to regret their decision to get rid of Nayef Aguerd this summer as he’s enjoying a superb start to life at his new club Real Sociedad.
The Morocco international is on loan at the La Liga side and has earned rave reviews in various Spanish football news outlets after his commanding defensive displays.
It’s fair to say Aguerd never really showed his best form during his time in the Premier League, though he’s otherwise had a pretty good career, having impressed in Ligue 1 before now reviving his career in La Liga.
Aguerd probably won’t get another chance at West Ham, but one has to wonder if they’d at least consider it if the 28-year-old continues performing like this during his loan spell.
Aguerd transfer: West Ham sale surely still likely
More likely, perhaps, is that Aguerd’s fine form will be useful for WHUFC as it helps them potentially find a buyer for him.
Aguerd cost £30m to sign from Rennes, so it won’t be easy to make that back, but if he can keep up his current form then they might get a little closer to that.
