Manchester United and Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal.

According to Spanish journalist Moises Llorens, the two English clubs are keeping tabs on the 17-year-old Barcelona prospect and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in the near future.

His contract with the Spanish club expires in 2026, and the player has a €20 million release clause in his contract. Manchester United and Newcastle certainly have the final muscle to get the deal done and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.

The defensive midfielder could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for the Red Devils. However, the journalist confirms that the player is keen on continuing at Camp Nou and Barcelona have no plans to cash in on him. With that said, if there is a release clause in his contract, Barcelona will be powerless to stop the player from leaving.

Marc Bernal might be tempted to join Man United or Newcastle

Manchester United and Newcastle United could be attractive destinations for the young midfielder, especially if they can provide him with a clear pathway to the first team. Both sides need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park and the 17-year-old could be a long-term investment.

He is highly rated at the Spanish club and he could end up justifying the €20 million investment in the coming seasons. Meanwhile, the player is currently sidelined with a serious injury and he is unlikely to play a game this season. However, the Spanish under-17 international is a long-term prospect and it is understandable why the two English clubs are keen on securing his services.

It remains to be seen whether they follow up on their interest with an official proposal to get the deal done.
