Developments in Barcelona spell trouble for Arne Slot and Liverpool

Arne Slot has enjoyed a decent start to his life as Liverpool manager, especially considering the pressure he would’ve felt being the first in the door after Jurgen Klopp.

Rather than making a big song and dance about things, he has been calmness personified, and just gone about his business with seriousness and intent.

Aside from the Nottingham Forest reverse, things couldn’t really have gone much better for the Dutchman, with players that were perhaps loyal to Klopp already dancing to Slot’s tune.

Whether or not he will still have the same squad at the start of next season will be something to consider over the coming months.

For example, all of Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk will see their current contracts run out at the end of the current season.

There has been no comment from the trio or from the club themselves as to whether any of those players will be extending their contracts either.

Depending on your point of view and reading between the lines, the fact that none even appear to be in talks at this stage could be a huge cause for concern, though they may not be the only ones off to pastures new thanks to recent developments in Barcelona.

At the weekend Marc-Andre ter Stegen injured his knee and it’s expected that he’ll be out for the rest of the season.

Fichajes note that it could be as long as a year before the German can return between the sticks for the Catalans, and to that end, Hansi Flick has identified who he wants to come in as a replacement.

Liverpool’s Alisson is one of those mentioned by the outlet, and with Giorgi Mamardashvili joining the Reds next summer, it could make sense for Slot to cash in on the 31-year-old.

  1. I disagree with the statements in this post,hw could slot cash in on Allison Becker,by this stage ,in the world football right now if Allison is not mention,às the number one in the world,he could be number two ,but I think to mention him as may be third in the world would in any sense ,be senseless ,and slot is not going to cash in on Allison that ain’t gonna work, flick pls look else where to ultimate ur transfer target and Liverpool will be well apart ,strong to beat off all kind of potential proposal coming up against our number one.
