West Ham United were convincingly beaten by Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend.

The Hammers did not even look like being in the game for one moment, that is how the difference was in the quality and the performance between both the sides.

The Blues came out on top in the London derby with Nicolas Jackson scoring a brace and Cole Palmer adding another goal to his amazing Chelsea record.

The Hammers continued their poor start to the season and they have now lost the first three home matches of the season, a record manager Julen Lopetegui would be embarrassed about.

The players would be heartbroken with this performance and because of their failure to turn around their poor start to the season.

However, one of the West Ham players was happy after the match against Chelsea.

Andy Irving, who was signed by the Premier League club last summer but sent on loan away from the London Stadium, was given the opportunity against Chelsea after returning to the club this summer.

The manager showed faith in the player and decided to put him on against Chelsea. He replaced Lucas Paqueta in the second half and was delighted to get his first experience of Premier League football.

He told the club’s official website:

“It feels amazing to have made my debut.

“Since I signed for the Club the biggest thing for me was playing in the Premier League for West Ham, so I’m really happy that I’ve been able to do that and that my hard work has paid off.“

He has every right to be happy about his debut but the result was disappointing and the manager and the players should all come together to change that.

Their poor form is surprising considering the manager was given the backing by the owners in the summer to spend money on new players.

Lopetegui has been unable to integrate the new signings into his team and his failure to work out the right plan for his squad is evident in the team’s first few matches.
