Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has taken a swipe at Nottingham Forest’s tactics during their shock win at Anfield.

The Reds slipped to their first defeat under Arne Slot thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi’s second half goal, which continued Forest’s unbeaten start to the campaign and was the first Slot’s side have conceded this season.

For Liverpool and Slot it was an unexpected defeat and they were unable to break down a Forest defence who defended well and nullified their attacking threat.

The Reds appeared to be off it in what was their first game after the international break and failed to create many chances, whilst passes regularly didn’t find their intended target.

Losing points at home is always frustrating, especially in a game you’re expected to win afterwards Alisson showed his frustration as he took a swipe at Forest’s tactics.

“It was a shame, losing points at home is not good at all but the opponent today only wanted to defend and play for the long ball,” he said.

Alisson wasn’t happen with Nottingham Forest’s tactics in their shock win at Anfield.

“We gave them that too easily when they scored, it was poor defensively from us.

“We couldn’t create much, we had a lack of quality today, we needed more energy.

“It is three points we have lost today unnecessarily.

“All the opportunities we had were not clear enough and they defended great, they threw themselves in front of the ball.”

It’s an afternoon Alisson and co will quickly want to forget and the big task now facing Slot is how he will respond after facing a setback, with everything going perfectly until Saturday’s defeat.

The Reds have a big week ahead as they kick off their Champions League campaign with a trip to Milan on Tuesday night before hosting Bournemouth at Anfield next weekend.

  1. We Reds need to forget this unnecessary defeat against inferior opposition but must now be aware of others adopting the same negative tactics. There must always be a plan B tactically. In a similar situation Darwin Nunez is the answer to fight fire with fire.

    1. No defeat is unnecessary all defeats teach you how you respond next time to face such sequence and ready to accept the challenge. Any strategy to restrict the opponent is a strategy of the team to adopt. The team got affected by that might term it as negative one but not universal.

  2. We have the same problems we have had for years we simply do not have a goal scoring centre forward if salah don’t score liverpool don’t score we have always been unable to beat a packed defence another defeat against so called inferior team very disappointed
