Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne has now heaped praise on his former teammate and Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah.
Digne played with Salah during their time together at AS Roma and he has revealed that the Egyptian is a very strong player and he is very tough to deal with in one-on-one situations.
Physically the 32-year-old is quite strong and the French defender believes that coming up against him feels like hitting a wall.
Digne said to L’Equipe: “Compared to his height, he is very strong. I trained with him for a year, I saw a technically gifted player – we all know it – and a very tough one on a physical level. Every time you’re up against him, you feel like hitting a wall when barging into him.“
Salah is a technically gifted player as well and his combination of physical and technical attributes makes him a world-class performer.
He has been exceptional for Liverpool since joining the club from Roma and he has helped them win major trophies.
The player is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League giants can agree on a new deal with him soon. They will not want to lose a player of his calibre on a free transfer and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Digne to sign a new deal with Aston Villa?
Meanwhile, Digne faces and uncertain future at Aston Villa as well. There have been rumours that he could sign a new contract with them and it will be interesting to see whether the two parties can secure and agreement.
He is a proven performer in the Premier League and he could be a useful option for Unai Emery.
Aston Villa will need a bigger squad in order to cope with the fixture congestion. They are competing in the Champions League this season and they will look to do well in the Premier League and the domestic cup competitions as well.
