Liverpool are keen on signing the French international midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The 29-year-old central midfielder is currently a free agent after his contract expired with Juventus. According to a report from La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Liverpool have held talks with the player and his representatives regarding a potential move. It remains to be seen whether they can bring him in on a free transfer.

The midfielder earned around €7.5 million a season at the Italian club and it is fair to assume that he will need a pay rise at the Premier League club. Liverpool have a strict wage structure in place, and they will not want to unsettle the dressing room by paying him over the odds.

It will be interesting to see if the two parties can come to an agreement over the next few days. Liverpool could certainly use more quality and depth in the middle of the park. They tried to sign Martin Zubimendi during the summer transfer window, but the move did not work out. The Spanish international midfielder turned down a move to Liverpool and Rabiot could be an interesting alternative in the short term.

The French midfielder is at the peak of his powers and he will look to make his mark in English football. He has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League. Meanwhile, the midfielder has proven himself for club and country over the years and he knows what it takes to play for a big club.
