Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 21-year-old striker was on loan at Burnley last season and he does not have a future at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea do not plan to use him this season and they are ready to get rid of him.

According to journalist Kieran Gill from Daily Mail, Chelsea are now working to secure his exit before the transfer window closes across Europe. While the Premier League transfer window has closed, it remains open in other European countries.

The report states that Greek outfit AEK Athens is keen on signing the 21-year-old striker and talks are ongoing between the two clubs. It remains to be seen whether they can finalise an agreement quickly.

David Fofana needs to leave Chelsea

Fofana needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and Chelsea will not be able to provide him with that opportunity. It is fair to assume that the 21-year-old will be keen on an exit as well. He needs to get his career back on track with football and a permanent exit from Chelsea would be ideal for all parties. He will be hoping to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football now.

Chelsea have a bloated squad and they will be hoping to get rid of their deadwood before the transfer window slams shut. it remains to be seen whether they can free up the wage bill and raise some funds through departures so that they can balance their books and stay in compliance with the financial regulations.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old striker will be hoping to fulfil his potential with regular football at another club and a move to AEK Athens could be an exciting opportunity for him.
