Tottenham have had a busy summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou has made some big changes to his squad.
Spurs have managed to strengthen their squad with the signings of Archie Gray and Dominic Solanke on top of Timo Werner’s loan move.
Their transfer business has still not finished and they could make more additions to the squad late in the transfer window.
However, one of their transfer targets has joined their Premier League rivals in a £30m move, as confirmed by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist posted on his X account:
“Matt O’Riley to Brighton, here we go! Agreement sealed as reported earlier as #BHAFC complete one more massive signing.
“Celtic to receive £25m fixed fee plus add-ons up to £30m package, record fee in Scotland.
“O’Riley and Kadioglu, done deals.”
Celtic midfielder is on his way to join Brighton after being linked with a move to Tottenham in the past, according to GiveMeSport.
Brighton will initially pay £25million with the add-ons in the deal making it a £30million package.
Tottenham lose out on the signing of ex-Postecoglou midfielder
O’Riley is a versatile midfielder and the Tottenham manager knows the player well from their time together at Celtic.
He would have been a fine addition to the Spurs midifeld as he can play in a number of different positions.
Spurs would be hoping they do not regret missing out on signing O’Riley as they had a better chance to sign the player than Brighton.
