Ilkay Gundogan only spent a season at Barcelona in the end, and his parting message on his welcome video at Man City is virtually guaranteed to annoy the Catalan giants.
It’s believed that the German’s straight talking in the Barca dressing room didn’t win him many friends, and may have even contributed to the club considering moving him on so soon after landing him.
That and his weekly wage of €360,577 (£301,107/$402,009), per Capology.
From the player’s own point of view, that stage of his career is now all in the past, and he can look forward to being an asset for Pep Guardiola once more.
Whether he will be reinstated as captain isn’t clear at this point.
