Crystal Palace plot ambitious move as they express interest in Premier League star

Crystal Palace are one of several clubs interested in signing Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling before the end of the window according to reports.

Sterling is no longer part of the Chelsea project and he’s one of a number of players the Blues are looking to move on before deadline day.

Chelsea are facing a race against the clock to find a solution for the 29-year-old who currently earns in excess of £300,000 per week.

Sterling’s time at Stamford Bridge is all but over and his number seven shirt has been given to new signing Pedro Neto.

It has been reported that Sterling is prepared to take a pay cut if the right project is presented to him, but it’s unclear how much of a market there is for him and what Chelsea’s valuation of the winger is.

Mail Sport have reported that Crystal Palace are one of the clubs interested in the England international and they are trying to find out the conditions of a deal and how realistic it would be.

Chelsea have made it clear Sterling has no future at the club.

The report adds Aston Villa have shown some initial interest, whilst Juventus also enquired about Sterling earlier this month.

Sterling arrived at Chelsea in a deal worth £50m from Manchester City in 2022 but it’s safe to say his time at Stamford Bridge hasn’t lived up to expectations.

The Englishman has largely struggled and was even booed at times by Chelsea fans last season, with it no secret the club want his lucrative contract off the books.

Sterling scored eight goals and provided four assists last season in 31 Premier League games but it looks like after just two seasons his Chelsea career is over.

If Palace were able to complete a deal and it remains to be seen what level Sterling thinks he’s still at then it would be a major coup for the Eagles and would be a quality addition to their forward line following the departure of Michael Olise.
