Leicester very close to sign Premier League striker in bargain £6m deal

Leicester City manager Steve Cooper is looking to make new signings before the transfer deadline.

The Foxes started their Premier League season with an encouraging result against Tottenham in their opening match.

Club legend Jamie Vardy scored the goal for the newly promoted side against Ange Postecoglou’s team, once again saving the team from defeat and showing that he can still perform at the top level.

However, Cooper has less options in the attacking department with Vardy just returning from an injury.

Leicester’s other striker Patson Daka is out with an injury for months, which makes signing a new striker obvious for the Foxes manager.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, who has revealed the information on his Patreon, Leicester are interested in signing Crystal Palace attacker Jordan Ayew.

He said:

“Leicester City are trying to thrash out a fee for Jordan Ayew with Crystal Palace.

“Ayew has been on the Leicester radar for a couple of weeks and they are closing in on a deal worth around £6 million with extras.

“If Ayew fancies the move – despite Saudi interest – Leicester boss Steve Cooper will put him straight into his side.”

Ayew is an experienced attacker and he is someone who can help Cooper’s team stay in the Premier League this season.

With Daka out of action for a long time, Vardy needs support in the attack and Ayew can provide that.
