Joe Gomez could reportedly be one of the transfer window’s late movers.

The Liverpool defender was left out of Arne Slot’s matchday team to play Ipswich Town on Saturday.

With Gomez’s Anfield future now thrown into doubt, there is mounting speculation he will leave the Reds before the end of the month with several clubs interested in signing the 27-year-old.

It is no secret that Newcastle United are in the market for a centre-back — the Magpies have had four bids for Marc Guehi rejected by Crystal Palace though — so the club could be forced to pursue other options with Gomez high on Eddie Howe’s list of alternatives.

Aston Villa are also seen as a possible destination for the out-of-favour Liverpool man with Unai Emery eyeing a replacement for Diego Carlos who is likely to leave the Midlands this month having emerged as a top target for Fulham.

Interestingly, according to a recent report from HITC, West Ham have also emerged as contenders to sign Gomez. Julen Lopetegui is believed to have enquired about the defender’s availability with the 57-year-old manager considering bringing in another centre-back before Deadline Day.

The Hammers have already made three defensive signings this summer — Max Kilman from Wolves, Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United and Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice — so it remains to be seen just how much of a priority the Londoners view another centre-back.

Brentford are also credited with having an interest in Gomez so regardless of which club acts first, the Englishman certainly has several options open to him as he eyes a new challenge away from Merseyside.

  1. I’ve previously mentioned about swapping Gomez and 20 mil for Guehi) But Gomez and 20mil for KUDUS would also be good business especially as Gravs did a decent job at 6 against the tractor boys so if we could do the swap we can then focus on a Centre Back and cover for Left Back.
