Chelsea & Manchester United transfer target has to decide on Saudi transfer possibility

Mikel Arteta decided against signing Ivan Toney for Arsenal.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has the possibility of completing a transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli this summer, and it’s now on him to make a decision on his future, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column, Romano explained that Toney now needs to discuss the possible Saudi move with his family and his representatives, while he made no mention of rumoured interest from other clubs.

This follows both Manchester United and Chelsea being linked as possible suitors for Toney late on this summer in a report by the Independent.

Toney is surely good enough to make an impact for the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea, even if he’s not exactly the youngest and has yet to play for a big six club in his career so far.

What next for Ivan Toney?

At this stage, it might be tempting for the England international to accept the big money on offer in Saudi Arabia if the Premier League’s elite sides aren’t quite sure about moving for him, as this might be the last major pay cheque of his career.

Discussing Toney’s future, Romano said: “Ivan Toney has the possibility to move to the Saudi Pro League. Al Ahli have had an interest since December but he’s not the only candidate – there are four or five strikers on their list after Richarlison deal off.

“It’s up to Toney now, the player has to decide what he wants to do with his agents and family, and nothing is decided yet.”

If the Saudi move doesn’t work out, it could still be worth watching what United and Chelsea do, as both sides are arguably lacking a bit of depth up front, particularly in terms of proven and experienced central strikers.
