Manchester City are strongly considering signing a replacement for Julian Alvarez.
The Argentine attacker recently joined Atletico Madrid in a deal worth a reported £82 million.
And although Pep Guardiola has Erling Haaland as his preferred striker, with Alvarez’s contributions now written off, according to recent reports, the Spaniard is open to bringing in a replacement.
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is thought to be one target, but leaving Los Blancos this summer is seen as unlikely for the 23-year-old Brazilian; although a deal is something that could be explored in the future.
Man City step up Eberechi Eze interest
Consequently, according to a recent report from Football Transfers, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze is viewed as a more attainable target.
After being included in Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad for this summer’s EUROs in Germany, the Palace playmaker has seen his stock rise. And although the 26-year-old is valued at around £60 million, there is a ‘distinct possibility’ the defending Premier League champions could offer him a route out of Selhurst Park.
During his four years with the Eagles, Eze, who has three years left on his contract, has scored 26 goals and registered 17 assists in 124 games in all competitions.
Palace sold Michael Olise to Bayern Munich earlier in the window for a reported £50.8 million fee.
