Manchester United offer €6m-a-year contract to proven Premier League player

Manchester United have reportedly offered a contract to Burnley midfielder Sander Berge worth around €6million a year.

The Norway international is a proven Premier League player but is currently still contracted to Championship club Burnley following their relegation from the top flight last season.

It remains to be seen if Berge can get himself a move back to the Premier League, but it seems Man Utd have taken some steps to try to get this deal done, offering a contract to the player who is being strongly targeted by Erik ten Hag, though club to club talks are still required, according to Todo Fichajes.

Berge has performed well for Burnley and it’s easy to imagine he could shine for a bigger club as well, with United seemingly keen on him as an alternative to Manuel Ugarte.

Sander Berge to Manchester United?

While Todo Fichajes suggests Ten Hag is a huge fan of the player, Fabrizio Romano mentioned earlier that he’s being considered as more of a cheap alternative to Ugarte, who remains the priority for the midfield.

Berge could also likely have suitors from elsewhere, so it will be interesting to see how his situation develops in the final weeks of the window.

If MUFC decide to go for Ugarte then that could mean Berge has a number of other options, though for now it seems the strongest interest is coming from the Red Devils.
