Arsenal’s interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino could be bad news for West Ham United.

The Gunners are close to completing the signing of Spain’s Euro 2024 midfielder Merino after already agreeing terms with the player.

Both the clubs now have to agree a fee which will not be an issue and Merino will be on his way to the Emirates Stadium soon.

However, that would mean that Real Sociedad would target a move for West Ham United target.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers are interested in signing PSG midfielder Carlos Soler.

Romano told GiveMeSport:

“That (Soler) is a concrete option for West Ham. It’s true, he’s one of the names they have on their shortlist. And now, obviously they will also need to assess all the possibilities and consider all the options. They’ve been fantastic in the summer transfer window.”

West Ham’s interest in the PSG midfielder is concrete but so is Real Sociedad’s interest as mentioned in the report.

After the departure of Merino to Arsenal, Real Sociedad will make a move for Soler to replace Merino at the club.

Soler is looking for a move away from the French capital after not being given enough playing time last season.

The former Valencia man is valued at £17 million which will not be an issue for the Hammers.

They will have to beat La Liga outfit Real Sociedad to sign the Spaniard.
