Newcastle United preparing improved offer for Marc Guehi

Newcastle United have seen two bids for Marc Guehi rejected by Crystal Palace.

The Magpies are determined to sign a new centre-back and have identified the England international as a top target.

Also wanted by the likes of Liverpool, Eddie Howe is hoping to complete what would be a significant signing and one that would send a huge signal of intent to the rest of the Premier League.

However, in talks with Palace for well over a week, Newcastle have so far failed to reach an agreement with their domestic rivals despite making two offers. The Geordies’ most recent bid fell just shy of £50 million.

Marc Guehi remains top of Newcastle United’s transfer wishlist.

Consequently, desperate for the potential deal to progress, Newcastle, whose negotiations are being led by sporting director Paul Mitchell, are expected to launch an improved third offer.

That’s according to a recent report from the Daily Mail, who claim the Magpies will submit their new offer sometime this week as they look to bridge the gap between Palace’s £65 million valuation.

Should Guehi end up a Newcastle player, the 24-year-old would go straight into the club’s top three most expensive-ever signings alongside midfielder Sandro Tonali and striker Alexander Isak.
