Liverpool ready to sell key player in order to fund a move for Anthony Gordon

Liverpool are not willing to give up in their pursuit of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

The England international has been linked with a move to Anfield all summer and the Reds are not ready to give up on their interest in the former Everton player.

Gordon was reportedly being sold by Newcastle when they were facing Profit and Sustainability issues and they had offered the player to Liverpool.

However, after selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, their financial issues were sorted and they decided to keep Gordon.

The Reds are still interested in signing him and according to Football Insider, they are willing to sell Luis Diaz for £50m to make way for Gordon.

The Colombian international has attracted interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain this summer but those two clubs have moved on to other targets.

Liverpool are currently active in their chase of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi but the report mentions Arne Slot’s intention of signing a left-side attacker and Gordon fits the profile of the player they are looking for.

Luis Diaz is being linked with a move away from Liverpool.

The Reds are “active” in their interest in Gordon and they are still expected to make a move for him this summer.

With only three weeks left in the transfer window to shut down, the Merseyside club cannot waste any more time and they need to act swiftly if they want to get a deal done for Gordon.

Liverpool have still not made a new signing

Liverpool are the only team in Europe’s top five leagues, as mentioned in the report, not to sign a player this summer.

They are working behind the scenes to sign their transfer targets this summer after seeing their Premier League rivals strengthen their squads.

Although Diaz has been a successful signing for the Reds since joining the club but they are looking for a younger alternative of him and Gordon has been identified by them as the player to replace him.

  1. Luis Diaz is an exceptional player….. Nvr blunder by selling him……Gordon is just an ordinary player….Why the HYPE to buy him…..pls do not disrupt the team…….Only position nds reinforcement is defensive CB….Van dijk is slow n easily beaten….tq

    1. Disagree – last season Diaz did not go forward enough when in one on one situations but rather turned back to his own goal too often,,,Gordon is a phenominal player…and comments on Van Dijk are way off the mark…so just wonder what games you have been watching – YNWA!

  2. If this is true then Slot clearly prefers Gordon to Diaz and it makes no sense to even consider buying a left winger unless Diaz is going. These are the decisions the manager is paid to make. Good news story if it’s what our manager wants.

  3. I think selling Luiz Diaz to fund the Anthony Gordon deal makes a sense to me both in-pitch and business wise given Anthony’s age and capability of turning things around as he’ll time to massively improve. Anthony being able to play at the right-wing is as well an added advantage.
Therefore, signing Gordon, Zubimendi and a top left-sided centre-half of van Dijk’s calibre can mean massive boost for Slot to kick-start his liverpool managerial career.

    1. In the meantime United have signed another two first class players today while FSG is more interested in buying another football club!

  4. We are joking I think, don’t we have money in account how can you sell your staters like Diaz and Fabio this coach is joking.

  5. Better have them both for squad depth and also think of a holding midfielder together with an understudy of Mo Sallah

  6. Absolute RUBBISH Newcastle have Never considered getting rid of Gordon he’s not for sale and he’s happy at the club even with the ffp he was never a sales target Dream on..!

  7. What’s Slot doing with the best players? Even Clarks going? Fabio has gone after his pre season, and that’s why we bought him but he’s not good enough for slot? Don’t think he realises the amount of games and the speed of the prem compared to other leagues!! Barcelona haven’t got the money for Diaz and I think he’s a better player than Gordon as well as more experienced..
