Chelsea ready to cash in on 21-year-old prospect, two English clubs keen

Chelsea defender Bashir Humphreys is all set to leave the club during the summer transfer window.

The England under-21 international needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and the likes of Leeds United and Burnley are keen on signing him. Bundesliga clubs are keeping tabs on his situation as well and Chelsea are open to letting him leave.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea would prefer to sell him permanently, and it remains to be seen whether his suitors are willing to pay up. They might prefer to snap him up on a bargain and loan him for the upcoming campaign. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.

Humphreys is a talented defender with a bright future and he could develop into an important first-team player for the likes of Leeds and Burnley. They could certainly use more quality and depth in the defensive unit and the Chelsea prospect would be a quality long-term investment for them.

It is fair to assume that the 21-year-old is likely to cost a reasonable amount of money this summer and the two clubs should look to get the deal done.

Bashir Humphreys needs to move on

Meanwhile, Humphreys will want to join a club where he will get ample game time. He will not want to sit on the bench at this stage of his career and joining a club where he will get ample exposure will be ideal. He needs to focus on his development for now.

If he manages to fulfil his tremendous potential in the coming seasons, he will have plenty of opportunities to join a big club and return to the English top flight. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can find a suitable destination for him and invest the proceeds from his departure into the playing squad.
