Arsenal have made the signing of David Raya permanent this summer as well as added defender Riccardo Calafiori to their squad.
The Gunners are keen to challenge Manchester City again for the Premier League title next season and in doing so, they might use a former City player to win them their first league title since 2004.
According to Sky Sport Germany, the Gunners are lining up a move for Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane this summer.
They are watching his situation closely at the Allianz Arena as Sane’s contract at Bayern is set to expire in 2025 and there is currently no agreement on a new deal for the German attacker.
Mikel Arteta knows Sane from their time at Man City together and both enjoyed success at the Etihad Stadium with Arteta working closely with the Germany international.
The Spaniard wants to bring the former Man City winger back to the Premier League and use him to win the league title against Pep Guardiola’s team.
The Gunners have so far managed to keep Raya at the club permanently while also adding a defensive player to their squad.
They are now shifting their focus to the attacking positions and Sane is somebody who can help them next season by providing depth and quality in attack.
Sane has the ability to play on both the wings or behind the striker and his creativity and versatility can help the Gunners challenge for trophies again next season.
The former Man City winger was a fan favourite at the club and contributed to two Premier League title wins under Guardiola.
Despite Arsenal monitoring the player, the report states that the player wants to stay at Bayern Munich and he is hopeful of signing a contract extension at the club.
Arsenal would happily add another attacking addition
This may come as bad news for Arsenal but they will not mind it since they currently have the options of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard in the wider positions.
However, they will still keep an eye on Sane’s situation at the Bundesliga club and if there is an opportunity to make a move, they will happily go ahead with it.
With just over two weeks remaining for the new Premier League season, the Gunners have to make their moves quickly in order to strengthen their attacking areas and add depth to their squad.
