Nayef Aguerd’s wage demands stalling move to Nice

West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Nice.

However, according to print edition of Nice-Martin (10th July) , the player’s wage demands are currently a stumbling block in the negotiations with the French club.

This has complicated the potential transfer and left West Ham in a challenging position.

West Ham had shown interest in Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo and attempted to include Aguerd in a potential swap deal.

Unfortunately, this arrangement did not come to fruition. Todibo, reportedly, prefers a move to a club like Juventus, which he views as a better career opportunity.

With both Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd likely to leave the club, West Ham is urgently seeking defensive reinforcements.

The Hammers have already signed Max Kilman from Wolves, but the potential departures of Zouma and Aguerd necessitate the addition of another centre-back to maintain squad depth and stability.

West Ham’s management is now focused on identifying and securing a new central defender who can seamlessly integrate into Julen Lopetegui’s system.

The club’s transfer strategy will be crucial in addressing these defensive gaps and ensuring the team remains competitive in the upcoming season.

As the transfer window progresses, West Ham will need to navigate these complex negotiations and find suitable solutions to strengthen their defence.

The resolution of Aguerd’s situation and the identification of new defensive targets will be key factors in the club’s preparations for the new season.
