West Ham are reportedly keen on the signing of Birmingham City’s Jordan James as they look to add depth to their midfield.

After an overall disappointing season from a West Ham perspective, Hammers fans will be looking forward to a fresh start under the tutelage of Julen Lopotegui.

The former Real Madrid manager was appointed earlier this week replacing David Moyes and just in time to prepare for the summer transfer window.

The Spanish manager has already made his intentions known as according to reports from journalist Alan Nixon, the club have identified Birmingham City’s Jordan as a target.

At just 19, the midfielder has already been called up to the Wales squad and started every single game for the Blues in the Championship this season.

With Birmingham City now relegated to League One this may open the door for West Ham to swoop in with the opportunity to play in the Premier League no doubt alluring.

However, they are not the only club interested in the midfielder with Nixon claiming that both Atalanta and Leicester City are admirers.

The 19-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract although the Blues have the option to extend the deal by one year.

  1. Jordan James is a decent Championship player, but the report is incorrect in stating that he started every Championship game for the Blues in the Championship last season. As a result of the managerial changes (let’s not go there!!) he didn’t even make very squad.
