Newcastle receive key injury boost ahead of Brighton clash

Newcastle could receive a massive injury boost for their clash with Brighton this weekend as Kieran Trippier could make his much-awaited return.

The Magpies welcome Roberto De Zerbi’s side to St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon as they look to close the gap on fifth place Tottenham Hostpur potentially.

With the Seagulls boasting just one win in their last six Premier League games, Eddie Howe will be confident that his side can come out with all three points, especially with the latest injury news.

Newcastle has been plagued by injuries all season but looks to be getting one of their key stars back just in time for the last push of the season.

Kieran Trippier set for Newcastle return

Howe revealed during Friday’s press conference that the English defender had returned to training for the first time and could feature this weekend.

‘He’s getting closer. He’s trained this week for the first time with the group which is brilliant,’ he said via the Metro.

‘You can see the strength of the group returning with key figures back. He trained well, it’s been a good week for him and we’ll make a decision on him today.’

Trippier suffered a calf injury which kept him out for his side’s last nine games with Tino Livramento stepping in during his absence.
