Former Liverpool star Paul Ince has made a statement that Reds superstar Mohamed Salah is not a world-class player despite being considered an all-time great in the Premier League.
Ince spent time at Anfield between 1997 and 1999, going on to play 65 times in Red, scoring 14 goals alongside 10 assists before departing to join Middlesbrough.
That was not the most fruitful period in Liverpool’s history but the present is and a big contributor to that is Salah.
The Merseyside club signed the winger from AS Roma during the summer of 2017 and the transfer was met with scepticism as the Egyptian had previously failed to impress at Chelsea in the Premier League.
However, Salah has been a revelation at Anfield, scoring 209 goals alongside 88 assists across the 340 games he has featured in for Liverpool. The 31-year-old has also won every trophy possible and has cemented himself as an all-time Premier League great.
However, despite all this, Paul Ince still thinks Salah is not “world-class”.
Mohamed Salah is not a “world-class” player says former Red Paul Ince
Speaking on talkSPORT, Ince acknowledges that Salah is a world-class goalscorer but is not willing to classify the winger as a world-class player.
“I think his record speaks for itself,” Ince said when asked about whether Salah can be considered world-class. He continued: “Is he a world-class player? Technically, I wouldn’t say so.
“I think sometimes when he cuts in on his left foot, putting balls into the box, they are not great.
“But as a far as a world-class player scoring goals and making things happen, I think yes.”
The 31-year-old is certainly a world-class talent overall and he has proven that over the years.
Is the Egyptian the most graceful payer to watch? no, but that doesn’t take away from his ability as the Liverpool star doesn’t need to prove to anybody anymore that he is one of the best players on the planet.
