Nottingham Forest set to be given four point deduction that puts them into the relegation zone

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to be handed a deduction of four points in the Premier League today for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

An announcement is expected later today, and Forest are set to appeal the decision, according to a report from the Guardian.

It seems there may be some confusion relating to Forest and their finances after the sale of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham in the summer.

While the club had the opportunity to sell Johnson earlier, they instead cashed in on him for bigger money later on, but the Guardian claim that this defence has not been accepted.

Forest will now fall to just 21 points in the league table, putting them into the relegation zone, just a point off safety.

This shows just how seriously this issue is being treated in the Premier League, with Everton also hit with a points deduction this season, which started out at ten points but which was later reduced to seven.

  1. In the meantime the PL hoping we just forget about Man City until they find them ‘innocent’.

  2. Funny how all less well off clubs are losing points but the wealthiest club still have not been punished and never will.
