Jorrel Hato may be set to sign a new contract with Ajax, but he’s also been followed closely by Arsenal and he might not be staying at his current club for that much longer anyway.
That’s according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who says that Hato’s situation could change in summer 2025, even if Ajax are currently closing in on taking more control over the young defender’s future.
Hato looks an elite talent and Romano has confirmed to CaughtOffside, as part of his latest Daily Briefing column, that Arsenal have sent their scouts to follow the 18-year-old, who looks like a similar kind of versatile talent to Gunners ace Jurrien Timber, another former Ajax academy graduate.
Arsenal fans will no doubt hope something more concrete can happen with Hato soon, even if it might be a bit of a wait before the Netherlands international is available.
Hato transfer could happen in 2025 and Arsenal have scouted him, says Fabrizio Romano
Discussing the Hato to Arsenal stories, Romano said: “Staying with Arsenal, they have scouted talented young Ajax defender Jorel Hato multiple times, but he’s now set to sign a new contract. The new deal will be valid until June 2028, with no release clause included.
“So, there is no movement expected for Hato this summer, but it could change especially in 2025, and Arsenal are one of the teams who have sent scouts to monitor him on several occasions.”
Arsenal have done some fine recruitment in recent times, and signing an elite young talent like Hato looks like it would be another smart step to continue this fine project that’s growing under Mikel Arteta.
Of course, other top clubs are also sure to be keeping a close eye on this player and will surely join the race for his signature if he does indeed become available in just over a year’s time.
