When Sir Jim Ratcliffe finally won control of the footballing side of Man United, it was obvious that big changes were going to be afoot at the Old Trafford outfit.
For years now under the stewardship of the Glazer family, the Red Devils have fallen behind their competitors both on and off the pitch.
Signings for the first-team have been well below par for such a storied outfit, and a decrepit Old Trafford doesn’t belong in the English Premier League.
When a new broom sweeps clean, a period of instability for all would appear to be the order of the day, though it seems that Sir Jim and his INEOS team aren’t going gung ho and all guns blazing for the sake of it.
There’s little point in the billionaire making a name for himself for all the wrong reasons.
His challenge, above any other, is to make United great again, and if he does just that, he’ll be forever remembered in the annals of club history as a saviour of sorts.
The improvement on the pitch is needed imminently, and to that end, the Manchester Evening News are reporting that as many as 15 players could leave the club this summer in an incredible shake up.
The 15 players at risk from Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s fire sale
For varying reasons, they are; Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Hannibal Mejbri, Alvaro Fernandez, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Facundo Pellestri, Sofyan Amrabat, Anthony Martial and Tom Heaton.
It’s a fire sale the likes of which has never been seen, though it might just turn around the fortunes of this fading institution.
