Football finance specialist Maguire has revealed which Premier League teams have had the greatest success in the past from player sales.
And the Hammers, who have sold players for £575 million since the Premier League’s founding in 1992, are surprisingly in ninth place.
That is more than the likes of Brighton, Leicester, and Southampton, who over the past few decades have all had periods of enormous financial gain from a plethora of player sales.
In addition, West Ham has gained more than Aston Villa and Newcastle. Since the Prem’s establishment in 1992, 51 clubs have taken part in it.
Furthermore, 42 teams have raised less money from player sales than the Hammers have.
