Pochettino expected to have key role in determining Chelsea star’s future

Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino could reportedly have a key role in getting a new contract for N’Golo Kante over the line.

The France international is nearing the end of his current deal with the Blues, meaning he could be a free agent this summer if things aren’t resolved soon.

Still, it seems Pochettino and Kante have a mutual appreciation of each other, and the Argentine’s arrival at Stamford Bridge could be key to finalising things with the former Leicester City midfielder, according to the Telegraph.

Kante remains a fine player with plenty to offer, and he looks like he could be someone who’d flourish under Pochettino’s tactical methods, even if he recently turned 32 and doesn’t quite look like the player he was at his peak.

N’Golo Kante in action for Chelsea

Chelsea have a youthful squad and would surely benefit from someone with the experience of Kante sticking around for a while longer.

We’ve seen the impact of veteran defender Thiago Silva in his time in west London, so that could mean Kante still has a few more years left in him to provide leadership to the club’s promising young players.
