Talks between Jude Bellingham’s camp and Real Madrid are absolutely normal, according to Fabrizio Romano, who insists the Borussia Dortmund midfielder still hasn’t decided his next move.
The England international is sure to be one of the most in-demand names on the market this summer after some superb form in his time in the Bundesliga, but it’s not yet clear where he’ll be playing next.
Yesterday, journalist Santi Aouna tweeted that Bellingham’s father met with Real Madrid’s head of recruitment Juni Calafat in London, but Romano says that the player’s father is having these kinds of meetings every week at the moment…
Clarifying the situation, Romano said: “It’s absolutely normal to meet when directors are traveling for Champions League.
“Bellingham’s father is holding meetings every week, same for Borussia director Sebastian Kehl. The crucial point is Bellingham’s decision, and this hasn’t been made yet.”
Real Madrid would do well to win the race for Bellingham, who could be perfect to eventually replace ageing duo Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in their midfield.
Still, there will also surely be Premier League clubs hoping to lure the 19-year-old back to England, and it remains to be seen if he’d relish the chance to return home, or if he’d like to continue his development abroad after doing so well in his time in Germany.
As recently revealed by Romano, the other clubs in the race for Bellingham are Liverpool and Manchester City.
Bellingham could undoubtedly fit in well at any of these teams, but it can be particularly hard to say no to Real Madrid, who have a history of bringing in the big-name Galacticos they want.
