Manager confirms he won’t allow striker to join Newcastle or Arsenal

One player that has garnered plenty of attention ahead of the January transfer window is Marcus Thuram.

This month, as he approaches the halfway point of his contract, the French forward has been linked to teams like Newcastle and Arsenal.

Thuram’s contract status makes this Borussia Monchengladbach’s final opportunity to sell him, but the Bundesliga club appears to be sticking with the plan to keep its star striker through the remainder of the season.

The manager of Monchengladbach has reiterated his desire to keep the striker despite the contract situation and is adamant the player won’t join Newcastle in January.

“If we talk about Marcus now, for example, I don’t think there are many clubs that particularly appeal to him right now. I think he feels right at home here at Borussia Mönchengladbach. He’s back in good shape and condition and very motivated: you can never rule out anything in this business, but I’m very, very sure he will play a very, very good second half of the season for us,” Farke said.
