AC Milan in talks to fend off rivals in transfer scrap to land classy midfield solution

Coutinho's isn't a big fan of seeing Rabiot arrive at Barca should it happen

AC Milan are reportedly pushing ahead with their plan to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, but they face some stiff competition.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of significant speculation in recent months, particularly given the fact that his current contract is set to expire next summer.

With that in mind and no official suggestion that a renewal is close, it has raised question marks over his future in the French capital despite having already made over 200 appearances for PSG while winning a whole host of domestic honours in an impressive career thus far.

With his technical ability and creative talents, the silky French international would undoubtedly be a great addition for any side, and according to Calciomercato, Milan are pushing to ensure that it’s the Rossoneri who he joins next year.

It’s suggested that talks are ongoing between Milan chiefs and his agent with the desired outcome being a potential agreement in January with PSG perhaps being forced to sell at that point if no renewal is signed to avoid losing him for nothing.

However, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter and Juventus all named in the report as interested parties too, it promises to be a difficult deal to pull off it seems as all those clubs have the ability to offer immediate Champions League football with Milan still desperately battling to break into the top four in Serie A this season.

Adding a player like Rabiot would certainly help take them closer to their objective though, as Gennaro Gattuso currently lacks a top class midfielder with attacking qualities to make the difference in that area of the pitch.

The likes of Lucas Biglia, Franck Kessie and Tiemoue Bakayoko offer him solidity and strength, but aside from Giacomo Bonaventura, there arguably isn’t enough attacking ability through the middle and so adding Rabiot to the squad would undoubtedly help in that regard.
