Man Utd injury news: Mourinho provides update on key figure, hands Tottenham possible boost

Mourinho can't be happy with the way his side handled themselves this window

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho was without Alexis Sanchez on Sunday, and he has conceded that the forward might be absent against Tottenham too.

As per Sky Sports, the Chilean international didn’t even make the squad for the trip to face Brighton on Sunday, with United falling to a 3-2 defeat.

Although he has struggled since arriving at Old Trafford to discover his best form, there’s no denying that Mourinho would prefer to have him at his disposal and so it would have been a blow to see him miss out.

However, it could get worse for the Red Devils, and perhaps better for Tottenham, as based on the timeline provided by Mourinho after the game, Sanchez could very well sit out the game next Monday night with this unspecified injury problem.

“I don’t know really,” he is quoted as telling the club’s official site. “Let’s wait for the results of the studies, but I don’t think it’s a big thing. I think it will be one or two weeks maximum.”

That will be a blow for United if he does remain sidelined as they’ll be desperate to get back to winning ways after the loss to Brighton. Having Sanchez in the final third with his attacking quality as well as his work ethic could be fundamental to their chances of securing a positive result against Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Time will tell if his recovery speeds up over the course of the next week, but as per Mourinho’s latest update, it would seem as though he’ll be a major doubt to line up against Tottenham with Anthony Martial perhaps in line to get another start.
