Spanish club Real Betis are interested in Tottenham winger Lucas Moura, with just two weeks left until the end of the European transfer window.

Lucas Moura joined Spurs in January from Paris Saint Germain after 5 trophy-laden years spent in France. He made over 150 appearances for the Parisians, scoring 34 goals but struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting XI after the emergence of Kylian Mbappe and the signing of Neymar in 2017.

The Brazilian international made 7 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this year and featured prominently in pre-season which earned him a start in Tottenham’s opening 2018-19 Premier League game last Saturday against Newcastle United.

Lucas managed to get 67 minutes under his belt before being replaced by Mousa Dembele and with Son Heung-Min away on international duty and Eric Lamela currently sidelined with an injury, the 26-year-old should get plenty more chances to shine in the coming weeks.

However, according to Spanish publication Eldes Marque, La Liga’s Real Betis are interested in signing the midfielder before the summer transfer window closes until January. Betis sports vice-president Lorenzo Serra Ferrer has reportedly been on record to express his admiration of Luca Moura and hopes a deal can be arranged before the end of August.

Eldes Marque reports that Ferrer is also keen on Inter Milan’s Joao Mario, saying to the media on Wednesday: “They are two great footballers and if we have possibilities we would like to have them,” he said.

“But we have to be realistic and know what we can do. We try to distribute the economic potential well in order to try to reinforce and improve the squad. We have replaced players that last year performed very well and we think we have improved.”

Tottenham’s next league game is against newly promoted Fulham at Wembley on Saturday and Pochettino will hope that Lucas can put this speculation to one side and focus on his first-team duties in North London.
