Double deal: Chelsea want £66m+ Serie A duo as Sarri eyes raids on Inter, Juventus

Sarri may have to change the tactics he uses with Chelsea following the team's poor recent run of form.

Chelsea are reportedly setting their sights on Inter midfielder Matias Vecino and Juventus defender Mattia Caldara to bolster Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

The Italian tactician replaced Antonio Conte at the helm at Stamford Bridge this summer, but he brings an entirely different ethos and style of play to his compatriot.

While Conte had adopted a more pragmatic and organised approach to his teams, Sarri has been lauded in recent years for his work at Empoli and Napoli in particular, for the expansive football and high tempo game that his sides use.

In turn, that may require Chelsea to bring in reinforcements to help Sarri stamp his mark on the squad that he inherited from Conte, and according to the Evening Standard, that could lead them to Vecino and Caldara, with the former said to be valued at £31m while Caldara is the subject of a £35.5m bid.

Vecino, 26, is a classy ball-playing midfielder who can add solidity in the middle and perhaps if deployed alongside Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, it could allow Sarri to play the style of football he desires while also finding a crucial balance in a key area of the pitch.

As for Caldara, the Juventus ace impressed for Atalanta prior to his move to Turin earlier this summer, establishing himself as a potentially key figure for club and country moving forward given he’s still only 24 years of age.

With that in mind, with the technical quality and physical presence that they can offer, it would seem like a sensible double swoop for Sarri, but it remains to be seen whether or not deals can be deal with the transfer deadline fast approaching next month.
