Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Arsenal and Wales star Aaron Ramsey, who’s contract with the Gunners is set to expire next summer.
This is according to the Daily Mail, who note that the Blues are prepared to make a last-ditch swoop for the former Cardiff City man, and that the midfielder has entered the last year of his current deal with the north London side.
The report also notes that Ramsey will have a £30M price tag on his head should the west London side move for him, a great price to pay for a player of his quality, and that the Blues are ready to swoop if the club’s contract talks with the player hit a snag.
Signing Ramsey would be killing two birds with one stone by the Blues, as not only would it improve their options in midfield, but it would also deter the Gunners’ overall squad depth and quality.
Ramsey had an impressive campaign in north London last year, as the Welsh international scored 11 and assisted 12 goals in 32 appearances, a fantastic record for a central midfielder.
Ramsey’s great goal and assist output wasn’t enough to help the Gunners secure Champions League football, as Unai Emery’s side fell short in both the Europa League and Premier League.
Chelsea signing Ramsey would definitely be a surprising move, and one that could see Arsenal fans turn on the player if his switch ends up happening.
