Barcelona are keen on bringing in Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera this summer, with boss Ernesto Valverde requesting that the club bolster his midfield options for this season coming.
This is according to Don Balon, who note that Valverde is a fan of Herrera, and that the player has also attracted interest from Premier League side’s this summer.
Mundo Deportivo have stated in the past that the Mexican international is set to cost the club around €40M, a fee that would be a wise one to pay for Barca considering the lack of options they have in the centre of the park.
Herrera was superb for Mexico at the World Cup this summer, with the midfielder playing a fairly big part in his side’s run to the round of 16, where they eventually lost to Brazil.
During his time with Porto, Herrera has managed to clock up a record of 26 goals and 32 assists in 192 appearances, a decent record for a central midfielder.
The player’s most productive season for the club came in the 2015/16 campaign, which was a season in which Herrera saw himself bag a total of nine goals and five assists in 38 appearances in all competitions.
If Herrera were to join Barca, he would certainly be a good addition to their midfielder, although he’d most likely struggle to claim a first team place under Valverde duo the quality the club already have in his area.
