AC Milan transfer news: Key agreement touted to land Juventus duo in swap deal

AC Milan and Juventus have reportedly reached an agreement which will see Leonardo Bonucci, Mattia Caldara and Gonzalo Higuain all on the move this summer.

Having landed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid earlier this month, Juve are arguably better equipped than ever to not only sustain their domestic dominance but also to end their agonising wait for European glory.

In turn, they appear to be focusing on a ‘win now’ strategy, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that an agreement has been reached on a swap deal involving former star Bonucci and Caldara.

It’s arguably a move that suits all parties as Juventus regain a defensive stalwart capable of offering an immediate impact and leadership as they look to win major honours in this window with Ronaldo now in Turin.

As for Milan, Caldara, 24, has already impressed in his career to this point, and he could now potentially form an exciting partnership with Alessio Romagnoli in the heart of the Milan defence for years to come if a deal is indeed completed.

Further, it’s claimed that in order to reach an agreement, Higuain has also been inserted into the deal on a reported loan move with an obligation to buy, as per Gazzetta.

Given Milan’s problems scoring goals last season, having bagged just 56 in 38 league games to give them the lowest tally of the top seven sides in Serie A, signing Higuain, who has 146 goals in 251 games in the last five years in Italy, would appear to be a sensible solution.

With that in mind, it remains to be seen whether or not the deal is pushed forward now as with both sides currently on their pre-season tour in the US and with the new Serie A campaign just weeks away, they’ll ideally want to make their changes as soon as possible to allow the new faces to settle in.
